Celebrate the end of summer by tackling 49.2 miles in one day. Travel via foot and bike from St. Croix Falls to Danbury, WI in a four-person relay-style race. You’ll explore the entire length of the Gandy Dancer State Trail’s southern segment. If you really want a challenge, take on this adventure with a three or two-person team, or tackle it solo!
Teams of 4, 3, 2 or 1 will cover 49.2 miles in sections designated for running, biking and hiking. While one of your team members is on the course, the rest of your team will drive ahead to the next transition zone. One support vehicle is encouraged per team to keep transition areas manageable.
There are a total of 7 segments, which include 3 running, 3 biking and 1 hike. The running segments range in length from 4.1 miles to 5.8 miles. The biking segments range from 8.2 to 12.2 miles. And the hiking segment is 2.1 miles. Your team collectively decides which segments each team member will take. One member of the team will be on the trail at a time. A State Trail Pass is required for team members riding bike 16 years of age and over. Passes are available at the start line.
Sept. 16 event: This event will happen rain or shine. The Sept. 16th event is unsupported and unofficially timed. A suggested $25/person registration includes a t-shirt and post event treat in Danbury. Starting point is the Polk County Information Center in St. Croix Falls, WI at 7:30am. Relay starts at 8:00am.
Virtual option: your team will have until Sept. 30th to complete all 7 segments. There are two ways to go about the virtual option 1) your team can go out and tackle the course like it would be on race day – all together which is a ton of fun, or 2) individual team members will complete their predetermined segments on a day and time of their choosing while tracking their time for each segment. Either way, your team will need to collectively add up each of the segments and turn in your results by Sept. 30th. Be sure to capture your time on the trail by taking a few photos! Registering by Sept. 16 will guarantee you receive race t-shirts. All entries after Sept. 16 will not be guaranteed a race t-shirt. A State Trail Pass is required for team members riding bike 16 years of age and over.
